Experimental Study on Nanomechanical Properties of Yunnan Red-Bed Mudstone

As a natural building material and environment, red-bed mudstone has special engineering properties due to its formation conditions. The disaster caused by these is becoming increasingly prominent. Therefore, it of great theoretical significance practical value study the macro- micromechanical mudstone. Nanoindentation mechanical tests are carried out on from Chuxiong, Jingdong, Nanhua in Yunnan. microstructure, residual indentation morphology, nanomechanical parameters different areas compared analyzed. results show that load-displacement curves can be divided into four stages, which compaction stage, linear elastic holding unloading stage. Under same loading time conditions, sample 3 (Nanhua) deepest indentation, SEM damage obvious. Sample 2 (Jingdong) shallowest indentation. morphology complete size small tests. depth 1 (Chuxiong) between 3. average modulus 38.0 ± 2.29 GPa. hardness id="M2"> 1.36 0.42 GPa, fracture toughness id="M3"> 0.966 0.048 MPa·m0.5. id="M4"> 40.1 2.03 id="M5"> 1.71 0.35 id="M6"> 1.142 0.053 However, id="M7"> 25.1 2.53 id="M8"> 0.61 0.21 id="M9"> 0.507 0.043 Overall, greatest because high quartz crystal content.
